Goshen Fair Tug-o-War
July 30- After a 1st round victory by forefit, the 2008 West Bradford "pull team" got their first real shot at the competition. After a grueling pull that seemed to take forever... the 2008 team was eliminated in the second round by the team from Goodwill Fire Company. Despite the set back the members of the team have already started talking "next year". After our pull the members stayed to cheer on the members of First West Chester and Lionville as they competed for a slot in the next round.

Afternoon Auto Accident
July 29- Monday afternoon, The members were alerted to Romansville Road in the area of Chestnut Lane for an auto accident. Engine 39-3 arrived on location first and found a large SUV with heavy front end damage. The operator of the vehicle was able to extricate himself through the passanger side, so the crew secured power on the vehicle and provided EMS care until the arrival of EMS. In the end , two patients were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. Units from West Bradford returned in a little over an hour.

4 Call day for Station 39
July 26- Saturday Afternoon as members of West Bradford were preparing to depart for an engine standby at Kimberton Fire Company, the tones went out for an auto accident at Northbrook and Wawaset Rds. Engine 39-3 made an immediate response with 4 rescue personnel, followed shortly after by Rescue 39. Fortunately the accident was minor, and the Engine was released for the trip to Kimberton. Just as the Engine was about to be released from Station 61, the tones dropped alerting Kimberton, West Bradford and West End (Phoenixville) EMS for an accident, reported overturned. Units arrived to find a vehicle which had rolled over now back on its wheels with one patient with minor injuries. The patient was transported to Phoenixville Hospital for observation.
As the Engine was returning from Kimberton, the crew heard a medical dispatch in West Bradford, and being only a few blocks from the address, responded in to assist the ambulance. The patient refused transport and the fire and ems units cleared. The 4th call for the day came in the East Bradford area of the local. A passerby reported seeing a fire in a field at the intersection of Skelp Level and Harmony Hill Roads. This was later determined to be a bonfire.

Motorcycle Down
July 25- Friday evening, several of the members were on station when a passerby alerted us to a motorcyclist down on Poorhouse Road. As Engineer Sohn Stark was gathering information from the witness, Chester County Fire Radio dispatched the station to Poorhouse Road in the area of Forest Hills for the motorccycle down. Responding in less than a minute Engine 39-3 arrived on location with Chief 39 and began to assess the rider who was down on the side of the road. After determining there were only minor injuries, the rescue portion of the assignment was recalled. The patient was transported to a local hospital. Units cleared after about 45 minutes.

Wally's supports Emergency Responders
July 25- Everyone who has been to West Chester during the day knows Wally's. Wally's has been a fixture at the corner of High and Market Sts for years, providing his brand of hot dogs and assorted lunch fare to residents and visitors to the Court House area. Today, while the members of Station 39 were assisting the Borough with a gas leak, they found themselves a little hungry...and where did they happen to be staged? Just West of the intersection!!! As the Chief arrived, Wally announced a special firefighters sale... and provided us with a lovely mid-morning snack. Thanks Wally... cant wait to see you again!

Assist to West Chester
July 25- Friday morning, West Bradford Fire Company and surrounding units were dispatched to assist the West Chester Fire Department with a major natural gas leak on Miner Street in the Borough. A contractor struck an 8" gas line wile digging, causing a massive leak and requiring a 2 square block area of the Borough to be evacuated. Additionally, a large portion of the downtown area was closed to traffic during the operations. West Bradford covered Station 51 (First West Chester Fire Co), assisted at the scene and provided a rehab station. Station 39 units cleared the borough about 4 hours after their initial dispatch.

Rehab Assist to Glen Moore
July 21- Monday evening the members were alerted to assist the Glen Moore Fire Company with the rehab unit. Glen Moore and surrounding units were engaged in a search for a missing person and due to the heat that has gripped the area, Wyebrook Command ordered the response. Utility 39 operated on the scene for approximately 2 hours in cooperation with members of Elverson EMS, who responded an ambulance and their Special Operations trailer to the scene.

Drowning Dispatch
July 20- Sunday afternoon while members were hosting a Fire Prevention Birthday party at the Poorhouse Road Station, units were dispatched to the KOA Campground in Newlin Township for a reported drowning. Engine 39-3, Utility and Marine 39 were on the road within 2 minutes with full crews. Chief 39 arrived first and repoerted a 3 yo male patient who was semi conscious after a near drowning. As the additional 39 units arrived, patient care was continued by EMTs until the EMS units arrived. As time progressed the child regained responsiveness, but was flown to a local hospital specializing in pediatric care for observation. Units cleared in about 90 minutes.

Afternoon Auto Accident
July 17- This afternoon units from West Bradford were dispatched to the area of Telegraph and Sugars Bridge Rd for an accident reported with entrapment. Rescue 39 arrived and reported heavy entrapment, and requested an additional rescue for manpower. Additionally, a wrecker was requested, to assist in removing the vehicle from a tree. Engine 51-2 was requested for the LZ assignment After an intense 53 minute extrication the patient was flown to a local trauma center. Special thanks to Engine 37-1 for covering the district during the incident.

USTC Fireworks 2008
July 3- Tonight, members of West Bradford patricipated in the second annual USTC Fireworks Extravaganza. The members were responsible for citizen safety and fire protection at the event. With nearly 6,000 people in attendance, this proved to be no small task. Special thanks to the members of Minquas EMS, Modena Fire Company, Wagontown Fire Company and the Chester County Parks Department for assistance on the USTC grounds and to East Whiteland and Twin Valley Fire Companies for covering the district while we were committed.
