August 5, 2018

Wednesday evening, August 2, 2018 while most everyone was driving home from work or sitting down to eat dinner with their family or friends, the WBFC volunteers were participating in a community event that was being held at USTC, responding to an automobile accident at Route 322 and Skelp Level Road, responding to a Gas Alarm at a private residence and getting ready to participate in a yearly tradition of a friendly Tug-O-War at the Goshen Fire CO Fair. The events for the day began at 4:30 with a crew staffing Engine 39-3 at USTC for a Family Fun Community Event, just after setting up their display the company was alerted at 5:18 pm for the vehicle accident with entrapment at Route 322 and Skelp Level Road in East Bradford Twp., crews made the response with the two Engines, Rescue and Fire Police and arrived to find a three vehicle accident blocking the roadway with no entrapment. The Fire Police closed Route 322 for a short period of time, and while this closure created some traffic delays for everyone's commute, it was done to keep our responders safe as well as the motorists passing through the area. While we were still at the accident the company was alerted to a Gas Alarm Activation at a private residence south of Marshallton, Engine 39-1 and Engine 39-3 made that response and arrived at the scene checking the interior with our gas meters and found no problems. After clearing the accident the crews returned safely to their stations, the event at USTC and dinner with family and friends and prepared for the Tug-O-War, when all was said and done the 20 volunteers at WBFC that responded to the calls for service and the special events that day spent about four hours each, totaling 80 personnel hours.
